Bio Elena Lunetta
I'm a qualified Italian tutor, I've been teaching for almost 20 years and counting.
Before taking the Teaching certificate at the International House, I took it nice and easy, trying to work out what I wanted to do when I grew up.
Firstly, I graduated in Fine Art at Middlesex University and then I took a Master in Contemporary Italian Culture and History at UCL. In a totally random fashion, I also decided to take the teacher training course and that's when I knew I had found my calling.
I have since been working for a variety of language schools in London and I also have my own private students. Since Covid started, I have moved all of my teaching online, but I do miss being with my students in the tridimensional world.
Some of my more cherished interests outside teaching are knitting and crochet.
I also love keeping in touch with what goes on in the world, maybe too much sometimes.
To relax, I follow true crime stories. My favourite YouTube channel is Elisa True Crime, which, by the way, I highly recommend if you want to sharpen your listening skills, if you don't mind gory details about not very nice stories.
In order to keep my brain cells active and alert, I started learning Russian. A very difficult language, if you ask me, but I do love it.
In many ways, learning a new language from scratch has helped me to connect more with my students, to have more empathy and, most importantly, to have a laugh when I tell them my embarrassing moments as a learner.
I have extensive experience teaching adults, I've also taught children for a few years and GCSE and A Level students. My group lessons are very structured and fast paced, I like to keep my students on their toes and engaged with a variety of activities, using authentic material found online as well as the textbook and my own material.
I hope to see you soon and start this language journey with you.
