Berna Widdop
My name is Berna. I was born in Turkey, but have lived in London for 30 years. I have a degree in German from Ankara and Göttingen, and also I am a court Interpreter for the Ministery of Justice.
I taught more than 500 students in 25 years with 6 different language organisations. I have been teaching small groups via Zoom for several years now.
I look forward to meeting new students and creating lessons to suit their needs.
I have been to about 14 countries in Europe, Asia and North America. I lived for a while in Oman and Mexico.
My wide experience of teaching language qualify me for teaching beginners German.
My best teaching experience: I had a deaf student. Despite the challenges I taught her to speak Turkish out loud quite clearly. She was so motivated; my language hero.
"It is a tribute to Berna Widdop that 10 people turn up regularly each week to learn such a difficult language as Turkish, come rain or come shine, and have persevered through to the second year's course. What a wonderful teacher, inspiring, patient, well constructed classes, very good methods of teaching us including games which add to the spirit of fun she generates. And when a class is not only instructive but is also enjoyable, what more could one ask for in a teacher. Many thanks !"
